Brief Description

a) During the year 2018, total number of 2006 Road Traffic accident cases were registered. Out of these, 1565 accidents involved 4-wheelers, 401 involved 2-wheelers while as 3-wheelers were involved in 40 accidents cases. This year 225 cases of Road Traffic accidents have been disposed off till date.

b) The total number of persons died due to Road Traffic accidents in year 2018 is 272. Out of these, 225 died in 4-wheeler accidents, 46 died in 2-wheeler accidents and 01 died in a 3-wheeler accident.

c) The total 2551 persons were injured in road traffic accidents cases this year. Out of these, 2089 sustained injuries in Four-wheeler accidents, 421 sustained injuries in Two-wheeler accidents while as 41 persons sustained injuries in Three-wheeler accidents.

d) This year maximum number of accidents was reported from district Srinagar, i.e., 353 followed by district Anantnag (268), whereas district Baramulla reported 221 cases of road traffic accidents, the third highest.

e) The least number of road traffic accidents were reported in Shopian as 34, Pulwama has recorded 48 cases of RTA, Bandipora as 58 and Kargil as 59.

f) The maximum deaths in Road Traffic accidents this year were reported from Srinagar i.e., 42 followed by Anantnag which has recorded 37 deaths, whereas Leh, has recorded a total number of 119 road traffic accidents that has led to 32 deaths, the third highest for the Kashmir Zone.

g) The cumulative total of Road Traffic accidents this year for Central Kashmir Range is 772, in which 115 persons lost their lives.

h) The cumulative total of Road Traffic accidents for North Kashmir Range, is 629, in which 60 persons have lost their lives,

i) The cumulative total of Road Traffic accidents in South Kashmir Range is total of 605 cases that were registered, in which 96 persons lost their lives. For every 100 RTA cases registered in CKR and SKR, 15 persons lose their lives, whereas for NKR, 9 persons lose their lives per 100 accidents.
